Coats for Kids Foundation, established in 2004 in Alexandria, VA has been a long time partner of Operation Warm, Inc . Founded on similar principles, both organizations have made it their mission to provide new winter coats to children in need. Our shared vision of ensuring every child wearing a new winter coat is healthy, able to attend school regularly and has a strong self- esteem is why Coats For Kids Foundation and Operation Warm, Inc. have united  with a goal of serving at-risk children throughout the United States.

After distributing more than 38,000 new winter coats from 2004 to 2011, Coats for Kids Foundation founders retired. They reached out to Operation Warm, Inc. so the their legacy could continue. Their profound impact on children in the Washington D.C region has been remarkable. Together, in the winter of 2014/2015, Coats for Kids Foundation and Operation Warm reached more than 5,000 children within the National Capital Area, and 316,000 children throughout the country.

Within the National Capital Area, children will continue to be served through Coats for Kids Foundation. Our efforts have been expanded with the help of Operation Warm, who similarly provides brand-new coats to children in need in this local area. Across the United States, Operation Warm runs one of the largest coats for kids programs in the country, distributing new coats nationwide.

Our commitment to high quality coats and impeccable customer service will not be sacrificed as we continue to work with our partners across the country. Better yet, we are thrilled about the potential growth opportunities that will result from the union between Coats For Kids Foundation and Operation Warm, Inc.  Learn more at www.operationwarm.org.

Fire Fighters for Operation Warm Formed with IAFF
Operation Warm, Coats for Kids Foundation and IAFF Team Up

In 2012, a new partnership was formed with the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) to provide winter coats to needy children and their families.  Today, Fire Fighters for Operation Warm (FFOW) has grown to over 200 firefighter locals throughout the US.  This partnership led us to initiate production of coats in the USA.  Domestic manufacturing has added a new dimension to our primary mission of providing coats to impoverished children: helping Americans get back to work and out of poverty Operation Warm and Coats for Kids Foundation distributed 60,000 Made in USA coats nationwide last year, doubling the scope of our Made in America program.

“The IAFF has a long history of supporting programs that help local neighborhoods and families,” says IAFF General President Harold Schaitberger. “Community outreach efforts can have long-term and lasting impact on the local communities IAFF members serve.”

Fire Fighters for Operation Warm helps children in poverty survive and thrive, and inspires hope for the more than 16 million children living in poverty in the United States and Canada.

Working to Serve One-Millionth Child

This has been a fantastic year because of the generosity of corporations, service clubs, and individuals who have latched onto our mission that every child who does not have a winter coat deserves a new one.

This season, Coats for Kids Foundation in conjunction with Operation Warm has already reached more than 5,000 children in the National Capital Area alone. Together this year, we are working to reach 200,000 children nationwide. Since inception, we will celebrate serving one-million children - a momentous milestone.

New Order System On-Line

The new order system is on-line and it is different from prior years.  Here's how:

 1.  All coats in the Washington DC metro region (MD, VA, DC) are underwritten by contributions from the Combined Federal Campaign (federal employees via payroll deduction), Kids Helping Kids, Inc., Alexandria, VA, and the Susswein-Gottesman Fund, Alexandria, VA.

2.  Fundraising will be necessary at the local, community level, to offset CFK's expenses to source and ship the coats outside of the DC metro region.
